Lock Stock and Two Smoking Barrels

Saw it in several installments…and even after that it impresses. Very British…infact the plot reminds me of Shakespeare the way it twists and conjoins in the end the various subplots running parallel through its length. Though the language is hardly Victorian:p
Four guys put in their money in a big stakes card game, where they get cheated. And they don’t just lose their money…they end up owing a nefarious gang lord half a million pounds. And the rest of the movie is like a multiway ping pong game where the ball (money) gets tossed around again and again.
Lots of nifty camera work, the like of which you see in Tarantino’s movies, but it would be a shame to call it anything but original.
Lots of great dialogues. Quoting one gem here-

Rory Breaker: If you hold back anything, I’ll kill ya. If you bend the truth or I think your bending the truth, I’ll kill ya. If you forget anything I’ll kill ya. In fact, you’re gonna have to work very hard to stay alive, Nick. Now do you understand everything I’ve said? Because if you don’t, I’ll kill ya.

  1. Yeah I know I saw it. Then tried Revolver with big expectations but it was disappointing.
And I see you’re a fan of Kevin Smith too 🙂

Cool. I also got Mallrats. Fabulous movie…a bit more easygoing compared to Clerks though. Hoping to get Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back soon.
